Review of Devilman: Crybaby

first half is done pretty poorly. Disorganized, hard to follow. I sorta hated what was being set up with its whole sinning is bad thing and new Bad boy protagonist. Things were getting repetitive, like yeah we get it, demons are popping out of people and you like to animate boobies. The animation style wasn’t even working for me and I’m usually a fan of yuasa’s style. However the second half is really good. I started to get interested at the track meet episode and things just got progressively better from there on. Speaking of track, I love how track was integrated into the story.It made a major difference in connecting all these characters in a meaningful way. The passing of the baton thing was heartbreaking. Even the designs of the demons seem to get better. The final two episodes were amazing and I Loveeeee the overarching theme of the value of empathy. Emotion and empathy have value y’all!!!!!!

Overall, it’s got major issues that prevent me from recommending it but I’m still glad I watched it to the end.
