Review of Devilman: Crybaby

I'm not sure if this is just me, but I'm so confused. I actually started the show last year, put it on hold, and restarted it again, except I had no idea what was going on. So, last night, I binge-watched the whole thing from start to finish in one day. I still have no idea what just happened. Things I noticed that were good: The music and some of the animation. Yuasa really knows how to stylize animation, god dang. (I don't want to anger Satan after watching this show). Recap + Spoilers (This is what I understood from the story): Akira and Ryo andchildhood friends with Akira being a massive crybaby and Ryo being an emotionless chad. One day, Ryo asks Akira for some help at this sex party where demons are known to show up. Ryo knows that blood and grief summons demons so he breaks a bottle and starts cutting everyone. Akira, the only sane person at the party, tries stopping Ryo but ends up getting beat up. Then, the people cut by Ryo's bottle start becoming demons, leading to Akira becoming a demon as well. What. Nani. There's Miki the love interest, Miki the second (who's jealous of Miki and wants to become Miki), Seline who wants to have sex with Amon really badly, and then Ryo. Holy smokes can someone explain Ryo. The whole last episode was about Ryo's backstory but I was still extremely lost. Does he become a girl in the final episode?! Why does he only realize love after Akira has died when Akira was trying to pass him the baton for a full fight.

So Yeah. What just happened. I have no idea.

The rest of the story is about how Akira, a Devilman, faces his new powers and how humanity is quick to judge and doesn't love enough. There is so much pointless killing that I completely lost focus on the story. I had to constantly skip scenes and dialog of Ryo full-on breaking out into fillibuster mode.
