Review of Land of the Lustrous
Many of us have seen horrible examples of CGI in anime, no matter where you go, you can find an example. However Land of Lustrous, or Houseki no Kuni, is a perfect representation on what CGI in anime can be. The original manga artist Haruko Ichikawa illustrated the manga in such a unique style that fits the actually interpretation of these gemlike creatures. Although the anime does not truly give her art style justice, it does its hardest to get as close as possible with it, and you can see that effort. This isn't a magical girl cutesy anime that explores the life of a weakgem, it explores what humanity can be driven to, and what risks people are willing to take in order to get stronger. It shows us how we humans can look like through the eyes of someone from a completely different world.
I loved this anime, and dear lord do I hope they bring a second season. This will easily make history in the anime community as being an example of what future CGI should be.
I have NEVER been more investigated on a rock, but seeing this has expanded my view on both what anime can be, and the perspective on what humanity is through another view.
