It took me a while to start watching this for some reason. Finally got into it the other night, and I'm really not sure where all the praise is coming from. By episode 14 I was thoroughly engaged with the story and the characters. Sooo, what happened? I don't know the exact episode, maybe 16 or 17, but this show comes to a grinding halt. The story literally goes no where, the characters become stale and boring, and the main character, who was a thorough badass, actually regresses into an indecisive child. The show also has no ending. I mean I understand if they're planninganother season, but even so, it just ends abruptly with no resolution whatsoever. They throw a subplot in that occupies that last 5 or so episodes, and it goes absolutely nowhere. It was quite frustrating, as it all seemed very irrelevant.

It was a good show, but not great. It didn't deliver in the end, as the story never really progresses once Eren joins the Survey Corp, and the characters never really go anywhere (and actually regress). There is only one really great scene in the second half of the show (church getting stomped on), and while it does deal with interesting themes, it's not enough to give it more than a 7.
