Review of Steins;Gate 0

Recently completed this anime, I've been meaning to watch for a long time. Steins;Gate is my favourite anime of all time. That's why I was very hesitant in wanting to watch this anime. I knew that it would pale in comparison to the original and I was right. But that doesn't mean that it isn't a good anime. The general criticism seems to be that this anime is feeding off the popularity and nostalgia of the original anime and I have to say that I absolutely agree with that. This being true, as a standalone anime it's still not that bad. I mean, sure, it isn'tas much of a science / thriller as the original and mostly involves Okabe sobbing in a corner, but you gotta admit that towards the end the anime does get quite interesting.

The new characters are frankly a bad addition to the show. But at least we get most of our favourite characters back (even though some of them are a little broken). Still, I think this anime is a good addition to the original show because it builds on the already existing anime and makes it even better. But definitely don't watch this show is you're expecting anything close to what the original show had. 6.5 / 10.
