DISCLAIMER: This review contains minor plot spoilers, discretion is advised. They will not ruin the anime, but they may spoil or hint at a plot twist. Book of Circus was really good! I think it was a great expansion of the series, and it didn't do what some other anime do with "LOOK CLOWNS, BOO!" It instead actually uses different elements to provide some scare tactics, and makes the clown an actual character. Story: The story in this anime was really good, it had few plot errors or mishaps, and managed to keep me on the edge of my seat throughout its entirety. It never felt slow,or too fast, with its perfect pacing, giving you just enough time to digest the new information given to you, before feeding you even more. 9/10 for story.

Art: The art style is consistent and the high-quality animation is as well throughout the duration of the series. The OP and ED looked especially good. 9/10 for art.

Sound: Enamel is great, as is the rest of the soundtrack. 9/10 for sound.

Character: I really liked the addition of the new circus troupe characters, I don't think any of them were too cliched, and I think that they all showed some good development as the story progressed on. I absolutely loved Ciel's character development as the anime moved on and think that the "You can't turn back" moments were with a certain character absolute GOLD. Giving this a 10/10 on characters because I believe it deserves one.

Enjoyment: I really enjoyed this anime (and not just because of Grell's cameos) it had a great story, and the events in the story appeared to actually have long lasting consequences for the canon universe. i look forward to seeing how it develops, 10/10 for enjoyment.

Overall: As an overall score, I believe that this deserves a 9/10. This is factoring everything about it in, and I believe that this only just missed off of a 10, because there were still some points that did not make it prefect (even though my scoring system is a little broken and I have 10's that aren't perfect), but this anime was not able to prove that it was perfect, or resonate a deep chord/feeling within me, thus a 9/10. It was really good, and I recommend it strongly if you have seen the first 13 episodes of Kuroshitsuji season 1.
