Albus Changes the World · review
57 chapters in, "Albus Changes the World" is a masterclass in well-paced manga storytelling. Albus the hero isn't simply speedrunning his path to victory--he's re-lived the last few years of his life enough to know what he has to do and he knows he only has so much time to do it. As a reader, you may heavily relate to Albus' traveling companion Fiona, thrown into a fast-paced adventure with just enough explanation to guide the story and just enough humor and details to make you fall in love with the characters. It's a fully fleshed-out world with well-designed and well-thought-out characters that doesn't waste time over-explaining theplot.
Where many other mangaka use extended flashbacks and pointless side quests as mere filler or last-minute explanations for badly written plot points, "Albus" uses flashbacks to actually push along the story.
Here's hoping the story maintains the same quality to the end and here's hoping the story eventually gets an anime--and one it deserves.
Note: I've only rated "Albus" an 8 because, so far, the story is excellent. However, I don't yet know when or how well the story will end--I only know that stories rarely maintain this level of quality to the end. Still, I believe in "Albus." I want to believe in "Albus."
