TL;DR: This manga is basically exactly what you expect it to be except executed in a very below average manner. 'Ochikobore Kenshi, Tsuihou sareta node Majutsushi ni Tenkou suru: Kenshi no Toki wa Gomi Skill Datta "Zettai Kioku" wa Majutsushi ni Totte wa Kami Skill deshita' Or 'The Exiled Failed Swordsman Becomes a Sorcerer ~ [Absolute Memory], Which Was a Garbage Skill for a Swordsman, Is a God Skill for a Sorcerer!', which are both titles that are way too long, is a manga about a guy that is a child to a family of swordsmen. This family ruled by the entity known as the swordking,AKA the father of the mc. The basic premise is that the main character is exiled from the family because he is too weak and used magic. However, our MC was always fit for magic as he holds the skill of 'absolute memory' which allows him to remember everything perfectly. His mother, who passed away when he was still young, showed him a book on magic and ever since he has been fighting the urge to use it. Once exiled the mc ends up meeting a strong young magician named 'Ice cream' (yes really) who he helps when she is being robbed by swordsmen on the streets. In this world there is a great divide between swordsmen and magicians. After this encounter MC goes to magic highschool etc etc. This setup is very overdone and cliché at this point. The real issue is with how it is done.

The story feels like a rushed checkbook version of an exile under estimated mc power fantasy rather than one. The pace is much too quick, the characters are inconsistent and the main character doesn't really have a personality. The reader is not given any time to get a feel for the characters. We have no real reason to care for any of the characters and honestly everyone in this manga seems like an asshole that just has the mentality the story requires from them at a specific time. One example would be the way the father treats the MC and the way his father treated his mother at a later stage in the story. It makes absolutely no sense, even if you want to look at it through the tough love lens...

The power system in this world is straight up bad. It is never explained how magic power works or why a certain person has more than others. It is not explained why the mc is strong besides his absolute memory skill which should not be enough considering the events that happen a bit later in the manga. The solution to this problem is also not explained and quickly glossed over. It is never explained why certain swordsmen are stronger than others besides talent and or genetics which is more so implied. The scale of the conflict doesn't make much sense, the school seems to really want to keep their name but why this needs to be so is never really explained. From the perspective of the story/mc the magicians are painted as the semi good guys but why the swordsmen are bad is not really made clear except their assumed mentality of the strong rule the weak, which is kinda also seen with the magician side.

The art is also frankly below average at the start, though there are a few nicer looking panels during the fight scenes and it starts being basically average at the end of the series. Overall I would say that this manga is kinda just plain bad. The basics are there but it doesn't seem like even the creator took this very seriously and I don't think anyone else should either. I guess if you really need to scratch your power fantasy itch and want a finished manga for once, you can read this in an hour or so.
