The Legendary Witch Is Reborn as an Oppressed Princess · review
Story about reincarnation in the same world. The first volume is pretty good. Girl (MC) is OP mage(witch? distinction unclear) struggle to survive, to overcome obstacles in politics of her kingdom, etc. She picks up a guy in the woods as manservant, trains him, etc. This male companion is kinda relatable here. Overall, first volume is pretty good. Cant say same about the second one - you start to see that author either have problems to write engaging story for both audiences or she simply targets only female audience. The second book is just a trip to other kingdom to uncover some mystery. Story separated by2 years from first volume. Minimum overlap with characters from first one, no direct continuity, minimum info on what those 2 years were spent on. Does not feel good. Absence of character growth (those 2 years seems like did nothing much, just some new spells for male companion to better tend to MC). Story catapults them to a neighboring kingdom and expands on witch(MC) backstory. This done in such a way, that it reinforces the role of a simp for her male companion. By the end of the book he had become an ultrasimp.
As a dude you kinda project yourself in his(manservant/companion) character, which by the end of the second volume is pretty much an idealized cuck (hello betrothal - dude just stand behind and observe how his girl is flirting with some prince) and simp that will sacrifice his life for the girl without asking anything in return, and if they will be separated he will lose will to live, etc, etc. Pretty sure there is not much people who would want to read story from this point of view.
First volume is about 9,
second one is about 6.
Prologue of third volume is pretty much in line of second one (time skip, disconnected storyline, etc) - cant find myself to read another volume from pov of ultrasimp, hence the drop of series.
