Kakushigoto is a tale of a manga artist, Kakushi, and his quest to hide his profession from his daughter, Hime. Each episode reveals new situations for Kakushi to deal with as a father, as well as the perils of being an ecchi manga artist. I found this anime by coincidence back in March. I play a lot of osu!, and one particular song I was playing at the time happened to be Kakushigoto by yuikonnu, and for some reason that name stuck with me. So when I was scrolling through MAL in March, and saw an anime coming up called Kakushigoto, it instantly had my interest.I later realised that the song and anime were in no way related, however I'm glad that this coincidence led me to watch the anime.

Story: 8
Like I mentioned in the intro, the story for Kakushigoto is a simple yet intriguing concept. If it had just stayed as an anime about a manga artist and his naive daughter, I think it would have begun to get worn out around 6 or 7 episodes in. However, Kakushigoto doesn't do that. Whilst most of the main story is upbeat and bright with comedic moments scattered throughout, at the end of each episode the mood changes to melancholic, giving us glimpses of the present day. I won't go into too much detail to avoid spoilers, however the last episode of this anime completely changed my outlook on the series. It was completely unexpected and wasn't at all what I predicted the series to end on. And it was great.

Art: 9
When you see reviews for the art of an anime, one of the common remarks is about the detailed backgrounds with huge landscapes and bright, obscure colours everywhere. This is usually followed up with a rating of around 8 or 9. Kakushigoto is not an anime with huge landscapes and detailed character designs. And yet, it has an amazing aesthetic. The pastel designs of everything make the anime feel playful and lighthearted, and fit the theme of the anime perfectly. I'm just going to leave that there because the art speaks for itself.

Sound: 7
Sure, I could just ramble on about sound effects and voice acting, but personally I don't think sound is a make or break when it comes to anime (unless it's horrendous). The OP was catchy and fit the theme well, the ED was... Christmasy? Nonetheless, it was OK enough to not make me want to skip every time.

Character: 9
I LOVED the characters in Kakushigoto. I even began to enjoy the characters that in the beginning I hadn't really liked, such as Tomaruin. Their designs fit their personalities well, and each character participated some way in helping the story reach it's conclusion. There honestly isn't a single character I hated seeing on screen.
