To be brutally honest here, I only gave this an eight because of the battles. I'm not talking the techniques used or the story told through the battles either; I'm talking straight fight choreography and animation. Demon Slayer has always been really top notch at delivering fight sequences because it knows exactly where to put the suspenseful moments to make the fight most effective. Everything else in this season was just fine. The story told--both the side stories and Tanjiro's--were not all that compelling. Had this season been more than just an isolated arc, or had it alluded to the main antagonist more effectively, I wouldhave ranked it higher. As it is, it felt like the story wanted to get in and get out without linking it to the rest of the story in any real way. I will say there was a cool reveal in the final episode, but beyond that, this season was basically subpar episodes leading up to a bunch of fighting. And the fighting was great. Genuinely, I enjoyed watching it a whole lot, and that's why I scored this the way I did. But everything surrounding it did not make me feel as good about Demon Slayer as I did after the first season, but I felt the same about the film, as well, so. I look forward to seeing if Demon Slayer can properly expand its universe in the next season instead of doing one antagonist at a time because it feels far too isolated that way.
