Review of Fire Force Season 2
Enen no Shouboutai: Ni no Shou (2020) A fantastic second season taking us to the current area around the Manga. Of course, that means this ends on more of a continuation note as opposed to an epic climax but shows much promise with an after credit scene to the show definitely coming back in the future to finish this saga. During this season we get some pacing issues in that it can be a tad slow but that is more than made up by more than one explosive climax to the story as it progresses through. This time also takes a much darker turn with thecombat getting to a point of much deadlier and graphic outcomes. We also get some great characters with crazy abilities to come forward and old ones who finally let go of what held them back moving forwards. The line between who is in the right becomes very blurred, especially since in episode 10 without spoiling it I can totally understand Amaterasu now.
The art on this as a whole is brilliant and well done to an extremely high standard. It is almost like a live comic book at times which is marvellous on the eyes to see. Where it loses itself is the ED art on the ED in both instances since it does change and is appalling. I know they wanted to do something different but that was too far the wrong way. Examples like Tamaki as she progresses shows the excellence of the art as it goes through. The exception to the bad ending art is the final episode which was a really nice way out.
The soundtrack for OP 1 and 2 are of an amazing standard and are very much listen to anytime songs. The ED songs are both great but not as impactful, maybe let down by the reminder of the weird art that went with them. Generally, the sound is excellent and has such great depth that you can feel it especially with surround sound.
Character all develop in great ways to the ones we care about. Some minor faces come forward to the front of seeing development to an unexpected level. I loved Juggernaut during this season and Tamaki who is adorable with intense development.
The best good girl is Tamaki.
The best bad girl is a three-way split between Haumea, Inca and Ritsu.
We also have the cute but insanely crazy cool Hikage and Hinata twins.
The most badass of the season was Joker the best character going in some ways.
At the end aside from some pacing issues and the odd ending art, we have a strong season that comes out pretty damn high. You also have an after credit scene that leaves much to be wanted in a season 3 which will hopefully one day come.
One day just maybe we will see the eyes of Ritsu and Haumea.
9/10.
