Review of [Oshi No Ko]

At first glance, Oshi no Ko may seem like just another Idol anime. And in a way, it kind of is. But buried under the candy-coating of pretty colors and good sound design, lies the potential for something truly great. The keyword here is, of course, potential. While my rating for this season may be a 9, I can see a future where the energy this first season carried is lost completely in future installments. This season had everything; Drama, comedy, good music, eye candy, you name it. Even though the rest of the episodes beyond the first are tonally night and day, there is stillthe sense that the rollercoaster of emotions is far from over.

In essence, you won't have lost anything by watching S1 of Oshi no Ko. The characters are fun, the overarching plot is interesting, and it's a take on Idol anime that is unique enough to warrant a chance, at least. I can only hope it keeps this energy up in future installments.
