MF Ghost Season 2 · review
Okay my premise at rating shows like this supposedly adrenaline pumping racing anime is the action it promises to bring to me and unfortunately for Initial D's successor MFG S2 has the same problem S1 had: Fan service - The angel girls serve no purpose in this anime but to fill episode time, you can literally skip their scenes and the anime will still make sense. The questions asked to them are also cringe and also we have a lot of awesome romance anime to choose from already, we could really do with an anime that isn't using fan service to be some sort of rom-comanime.
Reactions - The racers, audiences and the bystanders react sooo much to the racing and the actions drivers take for soooo long that a race that's supposedy meant to last half a day feels like it has been happening for a week or more. I could ask you now how many episodes the 1st race of season 2 was? And you wouldn't be able to recall it because there was so much unnecessary "Reactions and commentary" scenes than the actual racing we want to see from this anime.
Fortunately this anime isn't all that bad though:
Animation - The car models used are very well made and the racing lines streaking on them really adds to the sense of speed and when the MC full sends his car into a drift it's very well done, wish they'd focused on this than that cringe fan service they try to push.
Plot - The anime does well in expressing the different attributes of the cars racing and how they are good or not good at certain things. The locations also play a role in the race affecting the cars in the race differently and drivers trying to overcome their doubts and flaws.
Conclusion - Watch the show for the throttle mashing street racing aspect of things and skip the cringy fan service, but beware the lengthy filler reactions and comments from literally everyone in the anime not bad if you watch it this way. 7/10
