Spoiler warning
This review may discuss plot details.
Heck I'll go ahead and put in an preliminary review too. For the record I've read the comic so please note this review will talk about things in future episodes so fair warning about that. I'll try to keep the spoilers to a minimum though and to be fair I think I can point out the goods and bads and make comparisons better because of this. Goods are obvious if you enjoyed the first season. You got a good cast, decent art and animations and a chill title that you can watch with your grandma (if she's into anime too). The opening and ending songs are goodenough to put in your music playlist, the selling point of the anime is the little tidbits on how the characters did X and Y which is interesting to watch and often pretty realistic outside of the AFT deus ex machina, and the cute characters that interact with each other (and even across races) is pretty heartwarming in addition to the SD which is very well done. Hiraku's still the center of all the events and really works as a narrator, expressing his viewpoints and mind freely and transparently, so it was easy to sympathize with him as well.
Bads are more subjective I'd say, and follows through from the first season--the sex talk that might've created a lot of humor is completely gone, and a lot of suggestive or crude scenes are "toned down" to be a bit more G-rated, and a lot of story arcs are heavily truncated which can actually be a plus since in the comic some of these stories are carried on for too long (i.e. the first tournament arc only spans 1 episode. Nothing major, life-changing, or drastic happens here, so if that's what you're looking for I wouldn't recommend this title.
Some things have changed from the comic, though it's more the order of events than the actual scenario. Hiraku and Tia's daughter does not appear before the Tournament (though I imagine she'll appear in the later episodes), while the 3 new races (Minotaurs, Centaurs, and Daphne Nymphs) join in before everything else (they originally appear a bit after the Tournament) to start off.
My concern is that shortly after this not only will the anime need to answer to Tia's child, but also the high elve's children and Ann's children as well since they're conceived shortly after (I'd be so disappointed if they completely remove these events to be honest). It also shows future characters in the Intro Opening tied to the main story that's progressing even now, so I'm wondering how much they'll cut out (since a lot of things happen between the Tournament and the Main Scenario Arc which isn't really important, but still very interesting if they decide to animate it), and approximately where they'll cut it at 12 episodes and possibly consider a 3rd season.
I do hear rumors that the anime MAY progress with a different main scenario which is ironically quite exciting because the Main Scenario in the comic isn't exactly the best thing I've read, so I'm having high hopes in this series for now.
