Cavalier with the Truth · review
Since nobody has reviewed this yet, I'll just do it, as part of my "You should read this manga 2026" nominations, however bad maybe I be at creative writing. This is a hidden gem by its very definition. The manga feels like a classical shoujo with a kind of unique story as the plot progresses. The mc is fun and admirable, and the chemistry and interactiuons between the mc and the (potential) male lead as well as the other characters is fun to watch. What I most liked about it is the story and fun characters. The romance is minimal and isn't the focus, but thecharacters and their interactions with each-other more than makes up for it. The side characters are relevant throughout the plot and don't just disappear once their arc ends. There are no multiple male leads looking like some teenage girl's fever dream suddenly falling for a weak damsel-in-distress-like mc. Instead the focus is on Ruzée and her goals and interactions with the various characters in the story. The mc is admirable and at the same time very fun to watch (her antics and jabs), and isn't like those bubbly high-pitched talking in their head all the times types that you see in many villainess anime.
The comedy is really good and doesn't rely on gag for the most part. Comedy is also not way too much present over the various arcs that it gets stale. The plot is also divided into different arcs with consistent progression.
The story is mainly about the Ruzée's adventures as a knight as-well-as as a maiden and her goals in a fantasy setting. The mc is powerful as a knight and magic user, but there are no absurd cheat stuff as the story takes itself pretty seriously. Nor it does have any reincarnation elements.
Just give the first few chapters a try and you'll easily be able to decide whether you would like the manga or not. The MAL synopsis from the publisher, as-well-as probably my review too don't do a very good job of explaining what the story is about.
