This manga is everything. It was very enjoyable when I read it. The idea of guys wearing female clothing as the norm certainly was interesting. This manga certainly did a good job showing off the boys in a cute way in their outfits rather than making it feel like guys simply cross-dressing or just simply pretending to be girls cause of course this is about a world where guys wear female clothing, act, and think like girls as the norm. From wearing makeup and loving cute things to admiring the way each other dress. Of course irl guys can also do the same, but thismanga goes further with the gag of how female characters are portrayed in manga and anime. I loved that there were many tropes that female characters experience that are shown in anime and manga portrayed onto the boys. Some of the tropes that were made in this story I liked when the boys' skirts being blown in the wind and the boys being worried about it, some of the boys being jealous about each other's chest size, or of course the well known tripping onto another person and accidentally touching their chest. There's a couple more, but everyone should certainly read the manga to see what other tropes were shown.
The characters really do make up a big part of the manga. Each one is interesting and well-designed. They are all memorable and enjoyable to read about! I would say my favorites are Kiritani, Mahiro, and Yumekawa.
The story of course is comedy and slice of life. I really liked it and enjoyed the many jokes made in this. Of course this kind of story may not be for everyone as it may be too weird or silly for some people. I would say that if you didn't like Binan Koukou Chikyuu Bouei-bu Love, Fairy Ranmaru, or shows/works that are similar then Hanamaru isn't for you. I know for sure many people who don't understand the purpose of those shows/works look at these types of stories as bad or terrible even though the purpose of it is to have fun and make jokes off these ideas and concepts. From magical boys to over sexualized male fairies to boys wearing and acting like girls it is enjoyable and all in good fun!
