Review of Frieren: Beyond Journey's End
An isekai with a lonely, but endearing twist. Loveable characters, a well-paced plot and a mix of both humour and wonderful characters that drive the show home. I am such a fan of shows like this where the soul of the anime are the characters that embody it. Anime like this one, hunter x hunter and mob pyscho 100 particularly come to mind. If you were a fan of any of those shows, you will almost definitely enjoy this one too. This anime was truly a breath of fresh air amidst the many, many overdone isekai & shounen formulas. I usually despise isekais with every fibreof my being, but not this one! Many isekais feature the same old overdone harems, guilds, "i-can-do-anything-if-try" MC, misplaced & awkward slapstick comedy (the ol' fall into a girls boobas is soooo funny -_- and totally not overused) and blatant oversexualisation of the female characters, no matter their age. This anime was anything but that. I came into this anime with low expectations but it blew me out of the water with the first episode.
I just thoroughly enjoyed this anime. It's wholesome, but with such a melancholic and lonely undertone that I really enjoyed.
If you're not someone who enjoys anime that touch slightly more of the feelings and emotions of the characters, then this anime isn't for you.
