I’ve been looking forward to this movie ever since I finished watching the final season, two years ago. While I can’t say it fully met my long-standing expectations, it didn’t leave me utterly disappointed either. If I had to describe it in one word, it would be: rushed. In the last season, the final match spanned over 10 episodes, giving viewers time to connect deeply with the game’s flow and the mini-stories unfolding on the court. By the final point, I had chills, and, admittedly, I shed a tear or two. This movie, however, failed to evoke the same emotions in me, despitehaving even greater potential. Nekoma and Karasuno share a rich history, so why limit their story to just 80 minutes?

In my opinion, a shorter 6-episode season would have been much more effective. It could have brought out the same, if not stronger, feelings as the last season. However, to give credit where it’s due, the animation in the movie was brilliantly executed. The visuals were undeniably stunning.

Still, I found myself yearning for more. I wanted moments I could revisit or search for in AMVs—something truly memorable. Unfortunately, with just 80 minutes, I don’t think that’s possible. It’s a shame, really.

Overall, while the movie had its strengths, it left me wishing for a longer and more immersive experience. Fans of the series deserved more time to fully appreciate this iconic match.
