This has to be one of the best Romance/Slice of Life animes I have every had the pleasure of watching. It really incapsulates the mind set of teenage love meaning that, yes sometimes the problems they have are stupid or seem overblown, that is the point. We don't always remember the stupid hang ups we had when were were teenagers. but when you actually look back almost all of our relationship, friendship or otherwise, had stupid complications that with hindsight look stupid. Horimiya shows an interesting pairing with its main characters bloom into a fulfilling and believable relationship with actual progression. I don't deal withthe typical will they won't they troubles or freaking out at the slightest bit of affection. It shows characters expressing their emotions and working through them. Even the supporting cast get interesting arcs and development.

If this show had more than just its 13 episode to tell its amazing story I feel like it would alleviate a lot of the complaints, the pacing does go pretty quickly and some characters stories don't get the chance to fully develop, that is just modern anime in a nutshell. You have a wonderful cast of characters, yet we don't get the full depth examination for each of them which is my only real complaint.

This is a must watch for Romance fans who want to see a relationship actually develop beyond the "Do they like me" phase which plagues the genre. I wish more shows actually progressed their relationships the way Horimiya does.
