Review of A Whisker Away
I wish my cat was cute like Taro Story: 7/10 As a person who loves cats and anime, I had high hopes for NakiNeko when I watched the trailer. The movie had a perfect amount of Romance, Drama, and a little drop of Ghibli fantasy blended nicely together to create this piece. I believe that the writers could have explored the characters more to make us sympathize with them and make us enjoy the movie better. Art: 8/10 Studio Colorido did well with this one. The art style is clean and very eye-catching, just like their past works (Taifuu no Noruda, Penguin Highway, etc.). The animation is smoothand good, but when compared to the works of Makoto Shinkai it is still a bit behind. Which is why an 8 was given.
Sound: 6/10
Nothing about the soundtracks really stood out from the anime. The sounds can be heard from time to time to help the story advance smoothly but that was all. Overall it was a plain ok from me, although I enjoyed Yorushika's song in the end very much.
Character: 7/10
The characters were good. We got a nice character development in the end also which helped a lot, but I felt like something was missing. The characters were not fully explored enough for us to sympathize with them and understand them. If we knew about them more, we could've enjoy the anime more fir sure.
Overall+Enjoyment: 7/10
The anime was really fun to watch and had an interesting plot along with enjoyable characters. The voice acting was delivered nicely, and the staff members are also known in the industry for their works. Thought the work could've been done better, I believe that it is already good enough for an original anime. Everyone will be able to enjoy this unless you hate cats, romance, and fantasy genres.
