Let me preface this by saying my review of Demon Slayer will probably be nothing you haven't heard before. I enjoyed it for what it is and my feelings about it won't change. Anyway time for my in depth review. Story: The writing of demon slayer is to put it nicely, generic. Large parts of the series are filled with last minute asspulls that conveniently explain what's happening or why certain characters won't die (the last episode genuinely had me confused on how they were still alive). There's so many flashbacks in crucial scenes to explain how a character is doing something or why acharacter is the way they are it's genuinely quite annoying. These are something I've come to expect from generic shonen anime though and it's passable for what it is if you turn your brain off and just enjoy the spectacle. The one thing I can't turn my brain off for however is the absolutely terrible humor that is seen in literally almost every fucking episode. It's typical anime cringe humor of characters whining loudly and getting hit or just being loud and obnoxious for no reason.

Art: It's beautiful. Easily the best thing about this anime and what carries my opinion of the show in general. I have nothing else to add about it, I just love watching the fights play out.

Sound: Another great aspect of this show, if not the only other one. The OST and ending song are great and really nice to listen to. The voice acting of essentially every character is great and is able to turn any average boring scene into at least an enjoyable one.

Characters: This is alongside the overall writing and story one of the weakest aspects. Tanjiro is a likable generic protagonist who always seems to be nice to everyone no matter what. Pretty bland, boring and nothing we haven't seen before a million times, but overall nothing to really complain about. Nezuko is fairly likable whenever she appears and is at least interesting in how she has to control her natural urges as a demon to not eat people. Uzui is a character who we get to learn more about in this arc and is actually probably the most interesting one. His backstory as a shinobi is quite tragic and his overall character is full of charisma and something at least entertaining to watch. His wives on the other hand are genuinely annoying whenever they're on screen and painful to listen to. Inosuke is another character that can be pretty annoying at times but is at least tolerable when compared to the next character I'll bring up. Zenitsu is by far one of the most annoying anime characters I've ever had to endure. His character whenever he's not asleep (the only time he's actually bearable) is just a terrible excuse of comedic relief. Think of every pathetic anime joke where the main punchline is just that they're yelling and you have his entire character. His constant whining and crying gets old after you hear it for more than a minute. Other than when he's asleep, Zenitsu is practically a throwaway character who's role could be performed by someone else.

Enjoyment: Demon Slayer is not a great series imo, it's just a good one. It's something you can really end up enjoying if you just shut your brain off and don't think about how a lot of what's happening doesn't make much sense and isn't something we haven't seen before plenty of times. It's by no means a bad anime but if not for the superb animation, music, and voice acting this series would not be talked about anywhere near as much as it actually is.

Overall: Truthfully I would give this like a mid to high 7 if I could, but because I can't I'll round up to an 8. If you watch anime mostly for enjoyment you probably won't care too much at this one's obvious shortcomings.
