Review of Devilman: Crybaby

First let me say, i didn't dislike the show. It was really fun to binge. It was like Parasytes story had a love child with Kill la Kill's art, which sounds cool, but leaves problems that I noticed right from the start. Story - 7 The story is good, but very familiar. Like I mentioned above, it's very close to Parasyte in its "outbreak" plot line. The story itself did enough to differentiate itself, but the ending it presents doesn't leave you wanting more. It leaves you with a "well, that was neat I guess." That's not the impression something with thismuch potential should leave you with. It felt rushed in the end.

Art - 9
The art looks very flat, but it works in that it stylizes itself in critical moments to give you a sense of wonder. I wasn't too sure on it at first, but it slowly started to grow on me as the episodes went by. Easily one of the best things about this show was the style of the art.

Sound - 8
The sound fit very well, I don't really have any qualms with it. A couple of times it felt a little off but overall it was amazing.

Character - 8
Characters were well fleshed out. Some where focused on more than even the main character. They hinted at so many things, but a lot of these character plot lines just stopped at dead ends. This isn't really just a character problem, but story as well.

Enjoyment - 7
I would of enjoyed this more if it kept an actual plot towards the end. So much was left unanswered that I was more upset when I saw the ending than I was happy. It wasn't deep, and there were no logical reasons to do what they did. It was just 10 episodes of hoping for something bad ass.

Overall - 8
They focused too much on boobs, plot lines were dropped, and it all around felt rushed and unfinished. They could of had several seasons of this. I'm kinda happy with just 10 episodes. The whole show is just one big hype train into nothingness. Doesn't mean you won't actually enjoy it, but you won't exactly find it anime of the year either.
