Review of Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope's Peak High School - Future Arc

Pretty disappointing entry to the series. The main driving force being the initial two detective mystery games is followed up with a weird action focused tragic future anime. While this genre can work, it feels out of place with the main games, which are about solving the individual murder cases and the overall case of the story. The original appeal of the series feels like it was cut out, and all we're left with is a watered down action anime that never really ties up or reconciles its overarching narrative of the world coming to an end. If everyone is still filled with despair howdoes hope win in the end? I know the main theme of the series is reaching for hope despite an uncertain and scary future, but that doesn't excuse not writing a proper conclusion to your story.
