Having watched and read all the various versions of Devilman, I must say that this is my favorite. I have some minor gripes, but they are minor, and I can see why the director did what he did. I applaud this adaptation. Very faithful to the original without feeling like a 50 year old manga. It is a great modernization. (SPOILER WARNING FOR SOURCE MATERIAL IN THIS PARAGRAPH) I had wished that the fight with Silene had gone longer, as it was a major revealing of Akira Fudou's duality with Amon in the original work. I agree with it not being as poignant because itwould have bogged pacing badly.
Without delving into it further as I have blown my sleep schedule out of the water to watch and review this... I loved it.
Absolutely loved it.
