Review of Sword Art Online

All the characters seem shallow. I could care less about any one of them. The main character is basically a god and I think I counted a total of five girls that fell in love with him over 25 episodes. I wasn't intending to count, I just got more and more annoyed every time it happened. I didn't see the point of the second half being Alfheim online, it would have been better if the SAO part stretched the entire season. This touches on the prior point, the main character is a god in both SAO and Alfheim somehow. By the end of the season, I justwanted it to be over.

The villain in the second half is a cartoon villain - one dimensional and simply evil. I love it when the villain thinks they are the good guy like in Death Note. I did enjoy seeing the guilds that were willing to kill players though with the justification that no one had proof the game actually killed people in real life. I also enjoyed the developer of SAO monologing about why they did it with no true justification for the real world damage he caused.

It was a good animation though at least, I enjoyed it if not just to see the concept of VR but with real consequences.
