The first time I watched this movie was in 2018. That might have an impact on my scoring, please keep that in mind. (NO SPOILERS). Story: I enjoyed this movie, quite a bit, but it still had its flaws. The story got exponentially worse as the movie went on. I had to watch some explanations to understand it, and it still didn't seem logical to me, I even read the manga. I will not be spoiling anything, but I will say that as I started the movie, I thought it would be a "motorcycle gang" movie, which was not what I got in the end. 6/10 Artand Animation: For the time the movie was released the art is great, it fits into its timeframe and if you enjoy the art of that era, you will enjoy it in Akira too. The animation is flawless. Revolutionary for its time. Truly an amazing accomplishment. 10/10

Sound: The music and sound design in the movie almost matches the quality of the animation and art. The score sets the mood very well, you feel the emotions you are meant to feel, you experience the movie as an adventure, and the sound design definitely has a big part in that. 9/10

Characters: I could add the character development to the story, however they develop along with the story how they are meant to and match its pace quite well. The character design at the beginning of the movie is quite misleading, as you might think someone is the main protagonist, that might not be as important to the story as one might think. 8/10

Enjoyment: As stated at the beginning of this review, I enjoyed the movie the first time I watched it, even though I might not have totally understood the story. It's definitely a movie that you have to enjoy to try and understand it, but I doubt this would be a problem for a majority of the viewers. 9/10

Overall: 8/10
