Review of Shakugan no Shana: Season I
Shakugan no Shana had quite the umph in my opinion. However, the way the writers brought up that umph was quite disappointing. Story - 7. The story itself was very interesting. A boy dies from being pulled into a bizarre war which has been raging right under his nose. Because he's to gradually fade into nothingness after his unlawful death, he's struggles to make a lasting memory with anyone close within his lifetime. It is during this process that he finds that he's actually a much needed asset for the war, and obviously, therein lies our story. Sounds amazing, but the build up to the actualbattle was cheesy and long drawn; this makes the story itself feel boring and underdeveloped.
Art - 10. I like art, I like fluent animation, and this show definitely knew how to do it. Everything from pain, to weak knees is definitely see-able in this anime.
Sound - 10. SNS did great with their OP, there soundtrack was also appropriately placed.
Character - 6. I'd have to say, the characters were kind of bland. The male lead... well it's debatable whether his character developed or not throughout the series, but ultimately, I don't think he did at all. I think he did what he did just because Shana either forced him to, or he was helping shana. As for Shana, her repetitive attitude was not very tasty.
Enjoyment - 7. I'm fairly satisfied with the series, it was enjoyable in the fact that it had all the things needed to MAKE a good series. SNS just, didn't step up there game enough I guess.
Overall - 8. To be honest, I liked the series while watching it, but thinking back about it just makes me wonder, what exactly were the fine points? In the end, I don't really feel like it was actually too special.
