Review of Monster

2021 years ago God created a species called humans. On early times we barely managed to communicate between us. Time passed and we developed more complex communication skills and at some point we created this thing called art. Thousands and thousands of works of art were created by mankind to finally culminate in this piece. This is the peak of human art. Now, seriously. Why you should watch Monster? Even if you're not a fan of anime, you will end up loving Monster. Monster is so special and different from other works in this medium for many reasons that I will be breaking down on thenext lines.

Story:
The story is about Kenzo Tenma, a japanese neurosurgeon working in a hospital more interested about prestige and money instead of caring about their patients. One day Kenzo has to face an important decision that will change his life. Without spoiling more, I'll say that this is one of the most beautiful stories ever told. Yes, it's a crime thriller. It contains a lot of murder and it is very willing to show some of the ugliest acts that humanity are capable of, but there are moments of kindness and love, those moments that define humanity better than all the ugliness in the world. Some people say that the show drags and is stretched, but I can't see how. The pace maintains the same for the 74 episodes and it is always engaging.

Art:
The art from Monster is part of what makes this anime so special. The character designs and the art style make look people in Monster so realistic and flawed, you got some characters with big noses, fat men, handsome people, and this is where I want to focus. This anime doesn't suffer from the 'same face syndrome' that almost every anime out there has. Every character has their own characteristic features, so you will not be confused.

The realism of the characters and the backgrounds add up to the realism of the raw and grim story, making it all work perfectly together. This also adds to the feel that you're watching a western TV show instead of anime, and I haven't found other anime that does this.
