Review of School Days
People are disillusioned by the idea that anime must reach some happy conclusion. School Days goes against that idea and inflicts the main character into a state of trauma and disaster. No rose-colored world is without its nasty thorns. Viewers of School Days are split into 2 groups. One group sees the cruel rules of reality being played in a fictional world as the protagonist's world splits into 2. Another is disappointed by the lack of disillusionment and wishes to see a reality that has far exited both this fabricated reality and our own. The art is powerful and illustrates the horror and the falsereality seen by Itou. The main character is akin to many watchers of this anime. Wanting to see to a happy ending, but neglecting to change the world and himself. Perhaps this is a comedy on the mental game we play on ourselves to justify our horrifying actions.
This anime was eye-opening to me and has permanently changed the way I view and evaluate the falsities in my ever-sickening imagination. I see many people continuing to see the world through a rose-colored lens, disillusioning themselves from the cruel reality of the world. To those of you I implore you to accept reality and seek change through action.
10/10, for now and forever.
