Review of School Days

So, I finally watched it… the infamous School Days. It was bad, but not as bad as I was expecting. It started off being pretty boring and slightly infuriating. Itou Makoto was tolerable for the first three episodes, then he became the biggest sleazebag I've ever seen in anime. I became livid by the later half of the series. I don't want to spoil the ending, but I will say that Makoto does get what he deserves, and it was very satisfying. Kotonoha Katsura was the only character I actually had pity for. The art and animation is sub par to average at best. The character designsare too similar to each other. Before I watched the show, I almost couldn’t tell any of the girls apart!

The music and sound is one of the high points of the series. I especially like "Kanashimi no mukou e", the song that plays during my favourite scene. It’s actually a pretty decent song.

Overall, I give this show a 4/10. The ending alone ups the rating substantially. For a better recommendation, I suggest Mirai Nikki. You will only want to punch the protagonist, not stab him a bunch of times in the chest.
