Review of Hunter x Hunter
Hunter X Hunter is probably the greatest of the shonen genre. It does a lot of what other contemporaries do, but better, and without falling into a lot of genre pitfalls. Gon is an excellent main protagonist, very likable and makes a lot of progress throughout the shows' 7 arc 148 episode run, for which two of the arcs he's hardly present in. Indeed, the side characters get a lot of room to be expanded upon, and in my opinion the character design is the title's greatest strength. The power structure of the show is based around a system called Nen, which gives each individualcharacter unique powers that mostly match their personalities. Nen feels very fresh and flavorful, and it avoids the common shonen problem of power scaling. Hunter x Hunter is a show where someone can creatively use the tools they're given to beat a stronger opponent, and this happens quite often. The voice acting and art is also very good, and once again I will mention that the character writing is top of the genre. I recommend Hunter X Hunter to all fans of shonen, maybe even just all fans of anime.
