Durarara!!, an anime about gangs, people with inhuman strength, supernatural stuff and some other cool good bad guys. If you've seen Baccano!, then this is a must watch for you but this review is written for those who haven't seen Baccano! (which is an anime by the same author). Story 9/10: Ryugamine Mikado transfers from his countryside school to a high school in Japan to meet up with his friend Masaomi Kida, who transferred a long time ago. New to the big city, he wants something extraordinary and special to happen in his daily life. His average life takes a turn when he enters the underworld of gangs, supernatural stuff and meets certain exceptional people. Though he continues his life as a school student, the underworld does take effect on the daily matters.
That's kinda what I can tell you without spoiling anything. The story progresses with different characters, each having his/her part in the progress. The best thing about this anime is how it the story explains itself through each character. The link of the characters with the storyline is strong. It might get confusing at times but in the end, everything is crystal clear.

Art 9/10:
The art is pretty neat and good for this type of crime, gang and city type anime. Not too moe and not too serious. Can't say I found any character particularly bad in the art department. All of them are pretty cool.

Sound 9/10:
Two openings and two endings. Really nice songs. I listen to them even now.
My favorite is ending 1 (Trust Me) and opening 2 (Complications).

Character 10/10:
This is the place where this anime truly shines. Each and every character has a part in the story's progression. The characters relation with one another and their hidden personalities and secrets all come to light as the anime moves on. One situation may be explained by the point of view of different characters which makes you understand the whole scenario much better. Each and every character is somehow linked to the other and their actions affect what happens with the other in a future event. Though it might not be noticeable at once but as you move on and secrets are revealed, everything becomes that much more simple.
As for the characters themselves, there is a pretty wide variety of them ranging from school students to supernatural beings to superhuman people to people who control everything. One thing I can say for sure is that you won't get bored by the characters.

Enjoyment 9/10:
Yes, yes it was enjoyable. So enjoyable that even though I have my exams, I still managed to watch the last 5 episodes to complete the series yesterday (though my exam the next day suffered a lot but oh well). Though I'm left with a lingering hope for some romance but that doesn't happen in this anime.

For those who've seen Baccano!, don't miss out on this anime. And to those who are still wondering whether to watch it or not, I'd say give it a try. It's pretty different from what you normally see in an anime and who knows, you just might love this style of anime.
