Whenever I have to do some work, I like to plug in my headphones and listen to classical music. Most of the time it enhances my focus and allows me to finish my work quicker but, every once in a while, a song will play that stops me in my tracks. It triggers memories deep within and a feeling of nostalgia rushes through me. It isn't nostalgia for my own childhood, but of comfortability. The pain and joy of growing up. Of feeling you aren't enough, but also that you are. And the reason these certain pieces will begin this experience is simply the firsttime I had heard them: in Hyouka.

Hyouka is a show for which I have nothing but fond memories. Having first watched it in my early teenage years, it left it an impact so profound I cannot put into words. It wasn't an explicit change, but just a slight mark on my soul itself. The presentation of the show is its greatest asset: the music, the art, the voice acting, the metaphors, all blend in together to elevate this piece to greater heights. The characters are relatable, but even when they aren't, they still feel close. Like they are someone you know or have known at one point in your life. That is the most important factor of a slice of life show for me: that they are able to pull you in and make you feel at home. And in that, Hyouka stands above the rest.

Now, let me finish writing this and cry at the fact that it may never get a second season.
