After finishing the series I thought about where this anime ranks personally for me. I came to the conclusion that, although I have beloved anime in the past like FMA and Code Geass just to name a couple, this takes the top for me, and I've figured out why. With entertainment these days you get really used to the rush of it. Movies are short and new anime have around 13 ep seasons, some are bangers and most are.. not. When I watched frieren I was able to really become engrossed with the characters and the calmness of it that accompanied it's moments of conflict. In theend it wasn't really about the individual characters, or the animation, or the VA - all of which were amazing, but those alone do not deserve a 10/10 rating. In the end, I realized that Frieren, animated, encapsulated the feeling of sitting down with a beloved manga or novel, and just reading.

Something lost in many anime are the little moments, those moments become a snowball that keeps getting bigger within your heart and mind, until they stay with you for a long time, sometimes for many years, as one piece of media (and its novels) has done with me. In many anime the 'main moments' are often so overly dramatic or amid heightened conflict to the point of predictability and feeling generic, and in this Frieren differs in a much more unique way that I hope we see more of in the future.

The only piece of media I've watched which tops even this is Lord of the Rings, and Frieren captures that same feeling. The beginning and the end are both important, but the journey is what sticks in your mind long after. For this it deserves my rating.
