Review of Horimiya
As a manger reader who really enjoys this series, I was sorely disappointed with this anime adaptation. The pacing is really rushed in this anime and they skip over a lot of other mini stories as well. I understand that likely they're just trying to wrap all of this nicely in 13 episodes but a lot of the development and relationships I saw through the manga seemed lost in the anime. Also, certain scenes are quite different from the actual setting that it is in the manga which is a little misleading for the tone of certain scenes. As for the story itself, I willadmit it is indeed basic. It's certainly not groundbreaking by any means but maybe that's why I like it? There's a girl and a boy who like each other and you get to just see a relationship unfold. There's no crazy drama that happens, we just get to see two teenagers in love.
I'm giving the anime a much lower rating than I anticipated because as I said, they skip on quite a bit of story that I think rounds out the series as a whole and also adds to Hori and Miya's relationship. It's just so disappointing because I truly enjoy the manga and had high expectations for this.
