The following review is based off of my opinions, observations and thoughts. You are in charge of what you consume and should you choose to read all of this you are responsible for your response and reaction. Basically, it's fine if you disagree just please stay respectful. Devilman Crybaby, I don't get the hype. I will first address the issues I see within thisanime and then critic and say how it could have been better.

This is an anime that relies so heavily on sex and gore to make it an "adult" anime, like seriously, I would understand if the sex and gore was NECESSARY but it's NOT, that's the first problem I see right off the bat.

The plot is introduced in the first episode, I would say that it came off as kind of rushed to me, there could have been character building before they revealed the plot so that we could get to know the characters better and when the plot takes place we actually could feel like this was actually happening, but no it just felt very empty to me. There are several anime where the plot is introduced in the first episode but it doesn't seem rushed for most because they have some kind of character building before it or even none, if there's no character building before the plot is introduced then the character building should take place slowly as the plot progresses but I don't see any of that.

Now, the characters.
The protagonist is fairly simple, kind of clichè to be honest. Other than the fact that he's a crybaby is there any other special character trait that he has? No.
He is the stereotypical high schooler, kind of like the protagonist of a harem but a crybaby.
The characters have no personality, except the anatagonist there's nothing remarkable about the characters. Killing off a character for SHOCK is NOT good story writing.
Killing off a character just for the shock factor is not amusing to me.

Story:
The story is fairly simple, honestly, it had SO much potential to be a good anime, but the flaws are just too noticeable.
The psychological message behind this anime is something good! But it could have been executed so much better.
The last episode was EXTREMELY disappointing. I do not expect happy endings but I do want an ending I can be SATISFIED with and and ending that I can ACCEPT.
The ending to this anime was honestly so so bad, it could have been so much better..
The way they killed off characters for the shock factor is just so disappointing.
The way the story progresses honestly confused me, the way they just kept on switching perspectives was just too confusing and I couldn't figure out what was happening.
It has some very unnecessary and cringey scenes as well.

Here's what could have been differently: [spoilers ahead]
They should have not killed off the protagonist, it just doesn't make sense to me.
Instead they could have made the protagonist live and in the last episode they couldn't have made the antagonist realise his friendship with the protagonist and not do those things.
They should not have killed off the female, she could have added so much to the story.

Here are some positives about this show:
It has a great message behind it
The animation is very unique and aesthetically pleasing to the eye.

Overall, this show has so much wasted potential, the ending was just too disappointing to me.
They could have done so many things differently which would actually make this a reasonable show at least. I did not enjoy watching this and had to force myself to finish it just for the sake of having seen this anime since it was being so hyped.
