Frieren is my new favorite anime. This is my comfort anime. A breathe of fresh air. It's very rare to have a series be consistently engaging throughout a standard 12 episodes, let alone 28, to the point where you're saying "It's already over?!" when an episode ends. There are bursts of action and comedy spread throughout the series, but ultimately this is a slow burn focusing on the journey of our three main characters. This anime, so far, has been about the journey, not necessarily the desitantion. The three main characters here are charming. Frieren is caring, calm, and shows great development throughout the series. I think theyexecuted Fern and Starks personalities well as young adults who still display instances of immaturity (such as Ferns pouting) as well. I appreciate the lack of fanservice, in-your-face tropes, and overbearing, loud characters trying to grab your attention.

On a heavier note, if you've ever lost a loved one, a heavy hitting theme I feel is covered well is loss. It effectively conveys how one's memories can live on long after their passing. We see this in the flashbacks of Himmel and Frierens interactions and how those memories of Himmel shapes Frieren throughout the series. She's seen trying to build a deeper bond with the ones around her as well as appreciating the little things more, something she regrets not doing with Himmel. It really drives home how important it is to cherish those you love and appreciate the memories you create together.

As for the art, the animation, and the soundtrack, they are all strong and consistent throughout. That's all I have to say.

I'm not the best at writing reviews or getting a message across, but this series is incredible. It's been a long time since an anime had me fully engaged and touching at my emotions. This anime was relaxing, happy, sad, touching, and has been a huge source of comfort for me. I highly recommend this anime.
