Märchen Crown · review
If you think Märchen Crown is just another Rapunzel romance, you're sadly mistaken. Here, the fairy tale is revisited in a gothic horror version: the tower isn't just a prison, but a dark, almost living place, that seems to want to keep Rapunzel chained not only to its walls, but also to her fate. When Mikel arrives, it's not the usual Prince Charming who saves everything, but the beginning of a journey filled with shadows, secrets, and dangers. The more the story unfolds, the more we understand that their bond doesn't just free Rapunzel, but sparks a huge change, with implications that affect the entireworld.
The most fascinating thing is how the manga plays with contrasts: on the one hand, there are intimate, sweet moments, almost like a picture of everyday life, that immediately make you fond of the characters; on the other, there are gothic and disturbing atmospheres, with blood, dark magic, and gloomy settings, which transform the fairy tale into something frightening yet irresistible.
In short, it's a story that enchants and unsettles at the same time. If you like dark retellings, where love mixes with terror and sweetness is tinged with darkness, Märchen Crown is not to be missed.
