Not bad but definitely underperformed with the bar set as high from the Konosuba anime. I was really anticipating this even as the Megumin prequal story but sadly this repeatedly underperformed for more than half of its episodes with it only getting interesting once Megumin and Yunyun got to Axel as from the start it was purely just a slice of life school life of Megumin and Yunyun where Megumin just tried carrying the comedy and plot, which didn't end well as what we saw was just her being a bit scummy and everyones personalities just didn't bounce off eachothers because of how little there was, which lead to it being exhaustively boring for about 8 episodes (Yes that many to no exaggeration).

The music was nice mostly liked the end music with there not being many new soundtracks added. The art style did seem slightly nicer with effects spruced up a bit since there were mostly crimson demon attacks and explosions. The settings and characters that were introduced were that of the movie and previous seasons so not much for change there except for the introduction of Cecily who I can see being introduced in the next season of Konosuba which will have all the characters together which will allow for better comedy to happen due to the many personalities that can be utilised to bounce off each other, which this show needed desperately. But on that note I can see potential for some fun comedy to happen between Aqua and Cecily.

In short, this show was slow from the start and stayed slow until graduation, which even then continued being slow until Axel where it got better and funnier. In the beginning the characters available including Megumin and Yunyun had such boring interactions that I just ended up going on my phone until something of note occurred.
So when comparing it to the Konosuba series and other animes of similar calibre, this prequal underperformed by a large margin and from what was highly anticipated just turned itself into seasonal fodder sadly with only the last four episodes being entertaining. So if you're looking to watch this by small chance since most people will have the expectation it will be as good as its parent anime, then I have a bit of sad news for you.
As it's a prequal and that's all there is to it with a bit of Megumins Idol, a cameo of the new character Cecily and a fight at the end which was the only entertaining part of the show. The rest was just disappointing.
