Tokyo Revengers

Review of Tokyo Revengers

6/10

Overall, it was decent, made me want to re-watch GTO and find other bosozoku anime, but there are quite a few things that don't make sense or were half assed. I hated the lack of maturing that the mc (Takemichi) had, through out the whole season he remained ignorant to what's going on, sure he had his tough guy moments, but that's about it, practically nothing changed about him comparing episode 1 and 24, felt like all the stuff he went through was just empty in the grand scheme of things. But the thing that disappointed me the most is the non existence of nut shots, everyonebashed each others skulls in, but not a single character thought to go for the weakest point of them all, the testicles.... which everyone had, because most, if not all of the bikers were male.

Though I said it made me want to re-watch shows like GTO, the show itself lacked the bosozoku feel almost completely, yes, the show is set in 2005 mostly, which is not exactly when the ''art'' of bosozoku was blooming, but still, sure some scenes had motorcycles here and there, but everyone mostly walked around, and even the idea of the mc getting a motorcycle license wasn't mentioned.

The fight scenes were.... decent, a lot of blood and head bashing, and some dying here and there, but some characters were made out of paper, and some out of iron, depending on the lore, which is fine obviously.... but it takes away from the seriousness of the whole show in a way.

Art was good, though the characters did look a little plasticy at times, but the scar, earring and tattoo details were nice.

Now, even though the review seems like a negative one, why the 6/10? Well... because the show wasn't overly good.... but it wasn't
overly shit either.
