Review of Lazarus

I would say that if you're thinking that this series would be the next Cowboy Bebop, then you would be disappointed. I know that many people were excited about how this would be a return to form but I think that Bebop was something that can't be captured again. Lazarus is more of a mystery, heist kind of show. If you enjoy figuring about how where the next lead with go to then I'm pretty sure you'll have fun. Since this is a spoiler free review, I'm speaking in general terms regarding the show; I find that some of the plot points had little to dowith the main story.

I know that sometimes those plots went into the characters background, but I felt like the situation with the world ending was more important compared to backstory. While some of them did have something to do with finding Skinner, it felt like it was minor information into a possible lead. Another thing is that, later on towards the end of the show I found that an entire different story line was taking over which threw off the flow of getting the cure for Hapna. I will say I where Skinner was located was where I thought it would be, so I guess that for some plot lines; you might be able to guess where things are going to go.

The soundtrack is great for the story, the actual main story, the jazz is something mellow but could turn into something with more bounce and swing when the action. The animation is fluid and natural, and the style; many people has said it looks washed out, but I think it suits the themes of the story well. When the humanity has numbed itself to prevent negative feelings, just a constant state of mellow; the world would lose its' luster. Dull and less viburant than it used to be.

All this to say that, if you looking for a show that, after a long day of whatever you've been through and just want something that you can relax and enjoy. Lazarus is a pretty good pick to chill with; definitely an anime where you just lounge on the couch with your drink of choice, some snack and enjoy the ride.
