Review of Suzume
It was rich in japanese myth and historical traditional background. for example Sadaijin, Udaijin, Amaterasu, Tsukuyomi, Amano-iwato legend, Munakata shrine, Kanameishi, relationship between japanese gods and humans. And it had many respects for ghibli movies, one of obvious one is Kiki's delivery service. and structure of story line as well. Shinkai Makoto made another big step for making movie for public mass people who is not otaku which leads to success in business. I still can't remenber the feeling when i watched 5cm/s the best, but the contrast of ending of his other movies make themselves special each other. Rich in message but poor in phylosophy.(Is the story unique? If it was predictable, did you enjoy it anyway because you like this genre/set-up?)
Absolutely yes.(Do you think the art style is fitting for the story?)
Yes.(Were the characters well-rounded? Did they have flaws and strengths, or were they unusually strong/smart/stupid?)
Kinda but not necessary.(Did the characters react to situations and events in a realistic way?)
Yes. His anime is over expected who says it's overrated.(Do you think others will enjoy/dislike this series, even if you didn't? Why?)
