This is a finale to all the Fafner franchise. If you've watched the rest of Fafner, you should absolutely watch it. For anyone else, its waiting, but it only works as the last step. We continue to have the fun super robot fights that define the franchise. While still maintaining a degree of its signature obtuse nature, we also have overall the Festum and Mir addressed in the most direct way to date in a series that seeks to ultimately resolve the possibilities for coexistence between them and humanity. Theres less horror elements and the fights don't always have the imagination and panache- settling instead for scale-that we got in Exodus. It makes up for this by having some of the better character work in the franchise, with Soushi and other cast members having real motives, conflicts and development. Overall, it successfully concludes the franchise in an appropriate way- with a focus on the characters and relationships we made along the way, and using these to explore the series themes of community and identity from varying perspective.

A fine end to whats ultimately a fairly epic journey through the world of Fafners.
