Pretty Cure Splash Star · review
The 2nd generation of PreCure is a solid entry in the franchise Similar enough to the OG that is has a sense of familiarity, but also different enough that it brings some novelty to the series The dynamic between the PreCure is a very sweet one, with Mai and Saki being more similar in personality to eachother than Nagisa and Honoka were, it brings a fresh and more chill perspective on the power of friendship trope that's seen in many mahou shoujo and battle shounen I'd say the one downfall of Splash Star is some of the villains are quite weak writing-wise, but the second half of theshow brings on villains with a lot more depth to them, from codependant relationships with their leader, to breaking the pure evil black and white mold, and mastermind puppeteers in the shadows, this season does a great job exploring the neuances of darkness while still keeping it's cartoonish and flamboyant charm
