Ao Haru Ride: Awaken explains things that are in the main story in more detail that otherwise were left to be interpreted by the reader. Something that the main story lacked was an insight into Kou's feelings and motivations for doing certain things. I wish these bits were in the main story, but Ao Haru Ride: Awaken definitely makes up for it.
