I'll say this straight, I enjoyed kumo desu to the point I read the novels. on finding this I had a similar level of expectations and as I continued reading I actually liked it quite a bit. The parts I found appealing are the ecology, actually, rather than anything about the characters. while some monsters are as hostile as expected due to their need to feed themselves, a decent amount of them actually preferred to avoid fighting unless they needed to this also includes symbiotic relationships between the MC and some of the species he finds throughout the story. Another part I find quite cute is how the game elementsare incorporated into this manga, when hit, damage numbers are shown.
they decided "hey, we have a system, we might as well make it make sense" they even show when critical hits are done, the system also freely responds to any input like naming random attacks and overall general silly antics.

One thing I feel is a tiny bit lacking in the manga is the underutilization of the evolution lines shown at the moment, the MC obviously gets to pick but in nature although some evolved monsters are shown, I'm a bit upset that between colonies of monster we aren't really shown any of the branching evolutions that THEY get to have, maybe it's different in the LN, but this is the manga we're talking about

anyway if you wanna read an isekai that's quick to action and isn't immediately a harem or slop then please do try this out
