Review of Devilman: Crybaby
Devilman: Crybaby is oddly a breath of fresh air. It's an ugly, gruesome show that doesn't shy away from showing you everything. The first couple of episodes certainly do make it seem like your standard Hero vs New Monster a week show but it is quite far from that. The show presents itself in this roughly drawn art style, which to me is perfect, and does not hesitate to show viewers violence, sex, and drugs. Some may see this as a cheap way to make the show edgy and dark but that is not the case. Devilman: Crybaby is a show that shows viewers theugliness of the world and humans. Some of the most heinous things that occur in this show are not even the results of demons, but of man.
One thing that many can commend Devilman: Crybaby for (even the haters) is the soundtrack. Every song in this show fits the mood and ambience perfectly. It makes viewers uneasy, restless, sad, happy and uncomfortable. Soundtracks like these are hard to come by, so enjoy it.
This show is not for everyone but it certainly deserves your attention, and if you cannot stomach the first 3 episodes then this show is not for you.
