Sword Art Online Movie: Ordinal Scale -------------------------------- Story - 8 The Augma itself is an interesting concept. My only concern is that they have already used the same plot twice: a new device comes out, people die, Kirito investigates why. Nevertheless, everything else worked very well. Art - 9 Whether you enjoyed the anime or not, I think we can all agree the art is superb for its genre. In the fighting scenes, however, I would've liked to see more detail. Fortunately, this was added in the later seasons. Spectacular animation. Sound - 7 Near the end of the movie, Kirito and the gang are in a boss fight. The music thatwas playing was the old music from the first season of Sword Art Online. While the music was nice, I expected something more exciting to conclude the fight.

Character - 6
The only original characters that we see any development from are Kirito and Asuna. And this "development" is just them reaffirming their love for each other. But since this is a movie, I'll let it slide. Eiji is one of the antagonists of the film. Honestly, his background is very bland. He's a guy who likes a girl. The girl dies, so he becomes depressed. The girl's father and developer of the Augma, Shigemura Tetsuhiro, is also a very unoriginal character. He's depressed after his daughter dies and goes too far in an attempt to revive her. The characters from the first season are also somewhat bland.

Overall - 7
If you've enjoyed the first two seasons of Sword Art Online, I would highly recommend this movie. It's simple, yet stimulating. The art and music make sense. The new characters leave much to be desired, though. Everything aside, it's a very solid movie.
