Review of Akashic Records of Bastard Magic Instructor

It has it's moments but it's pretty average overall. I took a long break after watching the first 2 episodes, and now just finished it. It felt both Rushed and Dragged out at the same time. We've only really scratched the surface of the actual "story" the whole season feels like a prologue. But at that the same time the actual episode and story arcs feel somewhat rushed and predictable, like all the answer become clear right away. It's very predictable. I'd say the world building and characters is probably it's strongest side... but even the characters are real up and down, even though I like the few charactersthat they do develop, overall all the "character drama" feels stupid and mostly just a lack of communication.
Without spoilers "the moment with the mother, and the moment with the brother" in particular.
Also apart from that the author/creator is weird AF lol, like the designs are wild, and there's multiple "kinky" things in both designs and moments in the show itself that are very much "suspicious". I mean the characters even straight up call it out at some point.
So I guess if nothing else the Author is just that shameless.
Oh and apart from a few characters most other characters are pretty empty, and I was disappointing to see that the moment the arc of certain character was over they just kind of returned to being a bland background character.
So even if you have fairly well written characters when there's really only 2~3 being put energy into at the time it ends up still feeling very empty and lacking.
It has potential, and maybe the manga is better, but I can not give this show as it is higher than a 6.
